Bikers every where as well. The dirt road to the trailhead was really bumpy and there's plenty of cars going back and forth, but my Honda Fit did fine. The trail keeps going for a few miles and this is not the way. Continue just under 15 miles north on this Hwy. That will take you to the larger falls. Besides that, amazing waterfall and congestion was definitely low when I was there on December 8.

Easier to get back without getting confused. Highly recommend! No big deal- but with the low light you miss the part of trail that you are supposed to go to get back. The turnaround point of the trail is a perfect picnicking opportunity, staying cool in the warm summer months. Worth it once you hear the roaring of the falls. BEWARE!! This trail has been reviewed and updated to reflect the comments in this review. The trail does continue up along the creek for a few more miles, but we skipped that as there really isn’t much more to see past the falls, and overlook. NW Forest Pass MAY be required between April 1st and December 1st, the USFS currently says "No pass required". If there were many bikers it wouldn't be much fun, as the trail is narrow. Trailhead. No explanation. It doesn’t get more picturesque. Trail is in very great condition! Very busy on a weekend so be sure to arrive early, especially since there isn't a lot of room to sit at the falls.

And an added bonus; the walk back is mostly a gentle downhill grade. id come back with my kids ages 7,9,11. not crowded at all. As you follow the trail upstream, you’ll eventually leave the younger growth and find yourself wandering through some stately, moss-laden fir and cedar that frame the frantic creek. Beautiful trail that was pretty busy around 11am on Friday (7/31). I could have sat there for hours watching the water flow over the two tiers. Great hike on a beautiful day!
